My condolences on Darlenes passing. I remember her first from her days working in the kitchen and then serving us in the hospital cafeteria. And more recently as a patient on the very odd time she came through the ER, where I now work. I was always amazed by her friendly, genuine manner even when she was so ill. I appreciated her patience when she sometimes had to wait for us to get her needs met in the ER. I admired her spirit! I'm sure she's left you with wonderful memories that will keep her always close to you. My faith assures me that she is in a much better place, without pain and running free. My thoughts are with Darlene's family at this difficult time. I got to know Darlene when she worked in the dietary department at the hospital...many years ago. We always had a nice chat anytime that we happened to run into each other. I am sorry to say that I haven't seen Darlene for sometime, and did not realize that she was sick. I have many good memories of her, and know that she is in good hands now.

Uncle Herb and Family, Auntie Dee, such a lovely woman and a rare spirit, a gift and an example to us all. The very first time I remember being touched by her spirit and her love was when I was about 3 or 4 years old, and I still remember it like it was just yesterday... Auntie Dee and Uncle Herbie were visiting us, and there was a terrible thunderstorm, of which I was absolutely terrified. Auntie Dee found me in my bedroom, under the blankets in tears, and of course, asked me what was wrong. When I told her, she simply said, "Don't be afraid honey, all of that noise is only God moving his furniture. Or maybe He's bowling today!" This followed by a hug, my fear was gone, and she was just happy to be able to help. Even then, in spite of my very young years, I knew that there was something so very special about Darlene. Hers is a life to be celebrated. She gave so much of herself to so many. In the many years since my dad passed, I still miss him, I still wish he were here. That will never leave me, and I would not have it any other way, as I would never want to forget him. Even so, God provides in time a softening of all things, even our grief, when we are ready. I am grateful in the knowledge that you will have your faith to lean on, and that you will be comforted in this most difficult time. With deepest sympathy and my love, Tracy

I wish you all the best day possible. If there was ever a person who looked forward to this journey as much as my aunt I've never met them. She was a person who could bring calm to the angriest of soles, with just the sound of her voice or stroke of her pen. I know this because I was in a place were anger was the only emotion available or so I thought. In the darkest times in this place I would get a letter or a chance to speak to my aunt, it was like she new I was at the end of my rope. Some how she new. The words in her letters or the sound of her voice stopped that runaway train in it's tracks.
