Dear Audrey, Shana, Leeann and Tannis,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. I am sorry I am unable to join you to celebrate his life.
I have so many fond memories of your home, your dad and the farm. I always looked forward to spring break each year as we would travel to Lloydminster and visit with everyone. We always visited the farm and we always had such wonderful times. We would ride on the wagon with Uncle Don to feed cattle which for a bunch of town kids was always so fun and exciting. There were always dogs around that could be played with (and sometimes not! ;).
We even managed some sleigh rides in the winter and some summer visits where we could raid the garden. There was always an open door and more than even to keep a family of four kids busy. Satellite TV was "cool" and always had us searching the channels for shows we couldn't get at home. We watched a few hockey games on the tube but always seemed to be cheering for different teams.
But the real focal point was the kitchen table. It has always reminded me of my own mom and our kitchen table and the activities that took place around it. Whether it be conversations about farming, horses or where the crops were at everyone was welcome. Big meals with everyone crowded around and cards. How could you visit and not have a round of cards.
I raise a glass and toast Uncle Don and the many ways in which he has enriched my life and so very many others.
Sincerely
Kirk Newman
