Louise and family, Con was the type of guy who would never pass you by regardless of where you might be. He took the T in e if only to say hi.I remember him curling with my brother in law. He was a sharp shooter and never seemed to tire of sweeping. He was a true gentleman. RIP BIG GUY. Sympathy to all of you he will be missed. Sincerely Kim Olson

It was a beautiful service for a beautiful soul. Thank you Louise & Family for sharing that with us. Among the many things, the one important thing we learned from Conrad was that less is more. With his silence he conveyed a strong message, so aptly summarized by Jim’s short message, to explain why there was no eulogy.
It will be a sadder time without Conrad but many of us will relish in our experience in knowing Conrad. The many hours spent fishing, filleting fish, watching cattle & horses or just sitting in a lawn chair with him and no words spoken. The silence said enough already, just enjoying someone’s company. Once in a while he would say, and we have all heard this: ‘You know what (put your name here)……’ and then he would go on to say what was on his mind and you could be sure it would be funny or profound and very important. He would always say your name which meant that you were important to him and it always made you feel so important. If he was very talkative you might hear your name a dozen times in an hour.
Rest in peace my good man, we will never forget.
Hector

Auntie Connie was one of our favourite uncles. Quiet, enormous and intimidating...but then had the warmest voice and the BEST laugh. He would tease my sisters and call us "Them Boys," which was met with much shrieking and protests. He showed us how to whistle a blade of grass, and where to look if you were hunting tiny frogs. He told great jokes, and whittled us hotdog sticks and little whistles out of willow branches. To this day I cannot think of a campfire without imagining him there, noodling on a guitar. He was one of a kind, and I will always appreciate how he brought little sparks of magic to my childhood. He will be missed, and my heart goes out to everyone who he had to leave behind. All my love to the fam, I wish i could be there.

Louise and family. We would like to thank you for sharing Con for most of the winter months in the 70's, 80's & 90's. He was the best "Curling Sitter" any wife could ever hope for. We always knew our guys were in good hands and would get home safely. They traveled many miles, and they were a successful unbeatable team on the ice. We would often ask Con how he does it, in typical Con fashion, he would smile and give a little laugh. We are sure there will be a curling team in heaven looking for a loyal friend, and curler. We know they will get the best!
Hugs and thinking of you all!

I have lost a good friend. Thanks to Con retiring in 1994 I was able to come to Wainwright when Cornwallis Base closed. I had never met him but wanted to thank him so I went to the house and introduced myself. Thus began a great friendship. You always enjoyed your time with Con. We worked together on projects for Communities in Bloom and other benefits. That time in his garage was so special as his talents were many. The fishing trips with the guys were so much fun and we never tired of hearing his stories- he laughed just as hard as we did. Both Con and Louise treated us to time spent at Cold Lake- once with the grandkids who were thrilled when they caught such big jack fish out on the boat. His many hours helping at Stampede over the years is a testament to his dedication. He was one of a kind. We are proud to have been considered friends. Love to Louise and the family from Ross and Susan in Nova Scotia

Louise and family. We are very sorry to hear of Con's passing. He was such a wonderful man. He taught me many things when I was just a young rookie at the base fire hall. This was not limited to only firefighting, but also included woodworking, fishing and life in general. After he retired and whenever we would meet around town he always put a smile on my face during our chats. We have 2 of his beautifully carved Loons that sit on our fireplace mantle which we will treasure forever. I think it is safe to say that everyone in heaven is now enjoying a great story and an awesomely cooked fish fry.
Rest in Peace Con.

Louise, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Con was an amazing man, a great mentor to me, always the voice of reason and his knowledge was incredible. His calm demeanor truly a blessing. He was my first Captain when I joined the Wainwright Fire Department, he always took time to teach me, and show me what being a firefighter was all about. I was so honored that he and I served together as Chief and Deputy Chief....." I remember his phone calls to me during fishing season when I was a Captain "Ziggy, Ziggy, are you around this weekend, I have some fishing to do" So I'd cover his call weekend. Rest in Peace my Friend, it was my greatest honor to serve with you.

Con was a friend not only at work but also at home. We worked for many years together at CFB Wainwright Fire Dept. He was an integral part of the crew always willing to offer a hand and the first to volunteer for any task that needed to be done. I valued his wisdom and advice on many occasions. I remember his friendship not only at work but also at play as he also took my son and i fishing on several occasions at one of his favorite spots, Cold Lake. His skill was remarkable in filleting a jackfish. He was creative in woodworking and built my wife a beautiful original, one of a kind sewing center. We will miss you here on earth. but know that you are in a heavenly place and will meet again. Frances and I send our sincere condolences to Louise and the family. ❤️
