Obituary of Ronald Montgomery Mansfield
Ronald (Ronnie) Montgomery Mansfield was born on October 22, 1943 in the town of Wainwright Alberta. Ron spent his life growing up and working on the family farm east of Wainwright. Ron’s life revolved around caring for his cattle and working on his land. The priority in his life was always the tasks that needed to be completed. All admired his hard work ethics, honesty and straightforward approach to life. The family farm is a meaningful gathering place for his extensive family and his presence greatly affected everyone who spent time there. His influence is evident in the memories shared amongst his siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. His neighbors and community friends enriched and played a large role in his life. He always enjoyed visiting with his friends around the area, going to local auctions, and talking with anyone who stopped in at the farm. Ron was known for his generosity, was always willing to lend a helping hand and sharing his auction treasures. Ronald Mansfield passed away surrounded by loving family on April 7, 2018 at the age of 74 at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton after a courageous battle with leukemia. He will be missed by many but never forgotten.
Ronnie will be fondly remembered by his siblings: Mary Goede-Kohn of High Prairie, Noma Morrissey of Edmonton, Ann (Jim) Geldreich of Bow Island, Bill (Jean) Mansfield of Wainwright; sister-in-law, Joan Mansfield of Calgary; nieces and nephews, Georgina (Jim) Delorme, Isobel (Romeo) Duchesneau, Rhonda (Claude) Goede, Michael (Debbie) Mansfield, Colleen Mansfield, Debbie (Al) Morrissey, Ann (Darryl) Hladky, Suzie (Dave) Campbell, Mike (Susan) Morrissey, Teri (Alvin) Green, Kim (Glenn) Kalynchuk, Scott (Melanie) Morrissey, John (Sherry) Christensen, Joan Christensen, Malynda (Dean) Marquette, Ryan Geldreich, Megan (Sean) Geldreich, and Fiona Geldreich. Ronnie will also be fondly remembered by numerous great nieces and nephews, including: McKayla (Ryan) Campbell, Jesse (Lindsay) Campbell and Monyca Marquette. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Isobel Mansfield; brother, Oswald Mansfield; sister, Joan Torgerson; brothers-in-law, Orville Torgerson, Clifford Morrissey, George Goede and Ben Kohn; and nephews, Ronald Goede, John Goede, and Arnie Christensen.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 13th, 2018 at the Wainwright Grace United Church at 3 pm
