Obituary of Kathy Mary Drapeau
Kathy Mary Drapeau (Spak) passed away peacefully in her sleep 28 April 2018 at Capital Care Dickensfield, Edmonton AB. Born in North Battleford SK 27 Aug 1945; she was the daughter of the late Emil and Agnes (Mazurek) Spak.
In Kathy’s younger years, she worked at a convent then Red Deer Alberta School Hospital working with children with disabilities.
Kathy met the love of her life, Bert (1939-2016), on the train. Assisted by a French-English dictionary, they entered into a long distance courtship and were married in 1967. They got to see Canada’s wonders through military postings every three years.
She will always be remembered for her faith, courage and humor. Music has always been an important facet of their life together.
She is lovingly remembered by her 4 children Laurène (Paul Robitaille) Drapeau of Levis, Daniel Drapeau (Krista Bond) of Wainwright, Kristina (Dean) Perkins of Edmonton, and Julian (Chrissy) Drapeau of Calgary.
Grandma always had treats for her grandchildren: Brad and Alexa Perkins, Arianna and Luca Drapeau.
Kathy is predeceased by brother-in-law Ken Christy and dear brother Bill. She leaves behind to remember her: Nancy Christy, Myron and Vivian Spak, Sandra Spak, and Ann and Bill Kozack.
Kathy will be forever remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Services will be held at St. Matthew Catholic Parish, 13131 86 St., Edmonton, May 7 at 1pm with visitation prior and burial will be May 8 at 2pm at the Wainwright Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the mass and the interment.
Officiating the funeral mass will be Father Paul Moret. Pallbearers are Dean Perkins, Mark Spak, David Spak, Bernie Spak, Julian Drapeau, Daniel Drapeau, and Kenneth Kozack.
The family would like to thank both Capital Care Dickinsfield and Wainwright Extended Care and everyone who visited her there.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations may be made to the MS Society.
