Obituary of Nelson Glenn Valleau
Nelson GLENN Valleau of Wainwright, Alberta, passed away January 8, 2007, 3 days before his 92nd birthday. His body has been donated for research to the University of Alberta hospital. Survived his sister Reta Lindberg of Camrose, brother-in-law Jack Perkins of Wainwright, son Phil (Bev) of Wainwright, daughter Glenna Ramsay (Jack) of Camrose, daughter Dawn Challenger (Murray) of Wainwright, and son Alvin (Betty) of Wainwright; grandchildren Stacey Valleau of Wainwright, Denise Valleau of Wainwright, Shelley Breitkreitz (Jeff) of Calgary, Ann Beaupre (Aaron) of St. Albert, Jackie Ramsay of Camrose, Sterling Ramsay of Camrose, Will Challenger (Lyndsey) of Wainwright, Cory Challenger (Nicole) of Wainwright, Ginger Challenger (Brent Tibben) of Penticton, Tammy Franz (Tim) of Cold Lake, Tim Valleau (Jodi) of Wainwright, and Jaci Banda (Jody) of Strathmore; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Marie; brother, Stanley granddaughter Sheri (Valleau) Voll; grandson, Spencer Ramsay: brothers-in-law, Vern Lindberg, Charlie King, Hilliard Frances, Dave Rattray; sisters-in-law, Emma Valleau, Verne Perkins, Edith Frances, Millard King, and Irene Rattray. Glenn lived in and around Wainwright all his life and farmed until his retirement. He helped to build the community as an a active, committed member in the original Wainwright Co-op store, Wainwright Credit Union, UFA, REA, Wainwright Rural Fire Area, Ascot Rural Telephone area, Wainwright Municipal fire medical area, Wainwright Seed cleaning Plant and Medical Services Inc. (MSI). Glenn and Marie enjoyed traveling and had spent 12 winters in Mesa. He enjoyed photography, sports, games, politics and local and national current events. Glenn graduated from Vermilion School of Agriculture in 1933. He was competitive, meticulous, determined, intelligent and had great integrity. He was also compassionate, generous, funny, soft hearted, and most of all a family man who will be missed and remembered by many. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wainwright Pentecostal Assembly. The family would like to express thanks to the staff at the Battle River Lodge, which was his home for the past 12 years, and to the staff at Wainwright General Hospital.
