Obituary of Betty Mary Elizabeth Parsons

With Sadness the family announces that Betty Parsons of Viking, formerly of Irma, Alberta, has “loosed the surly bonds of earth” on Thursday, November 8, 2007 after a valiant fight against cancer. She leaves to remember her with love her husband of 50 years, Wes, 4 daughters, Betty Rae Gray (Bill), Bobbie Anne Bennett (Wayne) all of Irma, Jean Moses (Ric) of Edmonton and Patti Smith (Lane), of Grande Prairie and 4 sons, Jim Kirkman (Gerry) of Irma, Alan Parsons of Stettler, Leonard Parsons and Tom Parsons (Gerry) all of Irma. Remembering her also are 33 grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law and 24 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ray Locke, her second husband, Bob Kirkman, her parents Colin and Kate McLean, her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Cliff Saville, her sister-in-law, Marj Parsons, and her brother-in-law, Leonard Parsons. She will also be remembered by many very special cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. Her life was full of tragedies overcome and joyous times filled with music, family and friends. She loved living in a small community and worked hard through her life for various organizations in the Irma area. She played the piano for the Irma United Church for many years until she moved to Viking 2 and ½ years ago and she still delighted in coming back when she could to play on Sunday.
