Obituary of Ronald William Cairns

On January 8, 2014 Mr. Ronald Cairns of Lloydminster passed away in the Lloydminster Hospital at the age of 65 years. A Celebration of life will be held On January 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from The Legacy Centre, Lloydminster. After a brief battle with cancer, Ronnie (Ronald) Cairns passed away Jan.8, 2014. Predeceased by his father, William (Bill) Cairns and his mother, Elsie Cairns. Left to mourn his passing: His twin brother, Raymond (Diane) Cairns. His nephews Jamie (Jody) Cairns and Cory Cairns. His great niece, Jaida Cairns and great nephew, Keenan Cairns, cousins and their families, his Bea Fischer “family”, and numerous friends. Ronnie was the first born of twins on July 13, 1948 in Regina, Saskatchewan. When he was six months old he contracted polio. The family moved to Lloydminster two years later. Attended Lloydminster public school system for six years and then went to the Bea Fisher school when it opened. Went into the work force at the bottle depot and moved to the “blue box” recycle program and back to the bottle depot until his illness. Ron loved sports, he curled when younger, played baseball and watched football, especially the Riders. It was a great moment for him getting to watch the grey cup game with his brother and see Saskatchewan win. He rode his bicycle all around Lloyd and liked bottle hunting. He was always energetic and worked very hard. He enjoyed volunteering in the community whether it be delivering flyers for businesses, shovelling snow, mowing grass, or just lending a helping hand to anyone in need Winter however was Ron's favourite time of year. His love of snow and snow shovelling was incredible. He would spend hours a day making sure the sidewalks and driveways of those he knew were clear. You could often hear him say "more snow" as those around him would be saying we were ready for winter to be over. Winter also brought about his love of hockey. He loved to curl up on Saturday nights with a bowl of popcorn and watch the games. Ron had a wonderful sense of humour and a huge heart. For the last several years Ronnie had been studying the Bible and came to know God and that his name Jehovah and how his Kingdom with Jesus as King will bring an end to death and suffering. All those in the memorial tombs will be resurrected (John 5:28,29) to live life here on a paradise earth and humankind will be brought to perfection. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for all the love, support and assistance that has been provided in word and deed, by so many dear friends, the nurses and doctors at the Lloydminster hospital who took such excellent care of him. A special thanks to Dr. Naidoo who helped us so much.
