Obituary of Joy Letitia Patterson

Joy Letitia Patterson of Wainwright, Alberta, (formerly of Irma, Alberta) passed away at the age of 84 years in Palliative Care at the Wainwright Auxiliary Hospital on Friday, October 24, 2014 surrounded by her family. Joy was living in her own home in Wainwright until her fall at the end of August which resulted in a broken hip that led to surgery and a lengthy hospital stay. Pancreatic cancer was found and a cold brought her to Palliative Care. Joy leaves behind: friend Albert; daughter Karen Turk (Harvey Burke); three grandchildren: Jessie Turk, Spencer Turk, and Katie Turk along with their father Terry Turk; sister-in-law, Lois Patterson; daughters from other mothers: Noreen Jackson and Natasha Evans; and countless friends. She was predeceased by her husband Sonny (Wallace); two sons Scott and Bradley; one daughter Ruth; and her parents. Funeral to be held on Saturday, November1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Wainwright United Church (1038-4 Avenue). There will be a viewing on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 7:00 PM at Creech’s Funeral Home (905-9 Street). Cremation and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
