Obituary of Stanley Donald Hennigar
Stanley Donald "Don" Hennigar passed away on October 22, 2018 in Vermilion at the age of 72 years.
Don spent his childhood growing up with his family in Bedford, Nova Scotia. He was an avid reader and a student of Canadian history and participated in the re-enactment of historic battles. He also enjoyed hunting trapping, fishing and worked various outdoor occupations in Alberta and Saskatchewan such as Forest Ranger, hunting guide, wrangler, maintenance person, and construction work. At the age of 47 he settled in Vermilion where he worked at Vermilion College in various positions and in construction. He had a small knife making hobby which he enjoyed until his health deteriorated.
His family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Vermilion Continuing Care Centre for the care and compassion they provided during the last few years and especially during the last few months. We would also like to acknowledge and thank Leslie Bruce who has been a friend and a tremendous support for Donnie before and since his admittance to Continuing Care.
He is lovingly remembered by his brothers John (Valerie) of Ottawa, and Michael (Sue) of Upper Sackville; sisters Lorna Clarke (Bob) of Fall River, and Esther Cooke of Digby.
He was predeceased by his parents James and Barbara (nee Leslie) Hennigar.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will take place on a later date in Nova Scotia.
