Obituary of Thelma Orr Redmond
Thelma Orr Redmond, 91 passed away at Points West Living in Wainwright, Alberta on Monday February 22, 2016. Thelma was born June 11, 1924 in Orton, Alberta to Ernest William and Margaret Barton Taylor Orr. She graduated from High School in Orton and went on to more schooling in Edmonton where she earned her certificate in Business Administration. It was in Edmonton that she met and married her sweetheart Bill. After living in Edmonton for a few years, Bill and Thelma and their growing family moved to Edgerton to the farm where they remained until moving to the Lodge in 2002. In 2012 they moved from the Lodge to Points West where Thelma resided until her passing. Thelma spent her life excelling at whatever she did. She was an excellent cook, homemaker, seamstress and quilter. There wasn't anything she couldn't put her mind to do and do well. Many people were the recipients of her wonderful quilts, handi-crafts and cooking. She spent her life serving her family and those around her. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the gospel. Her bright smile and gently ways will be missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived her daughter Pam (Myron) Gebhardt of Orem, Utah. Son Dennis of Chauvin, daughter in laws, 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, all her siblings but one, sons Rod and Laurie, grandson Scott, great granddaughter Tianna and great grandson Jesse. Funeral Services will be held Saturday March 5, 10:00 a.m. at The Grace United Church in Wainwright, Alberta. Luncheon will follow the funeral and interment will be at Rosedale Cemetery following the luncheon. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, March 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Crossroads Funeral Chapel, 905 - 9th Street, Wainwright, Alberta. There will also be a viewing directly before the funeral service from 9-9:45 a.m. at the church. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Points West and all those friends and family involved with Thelma and her care over the past several years. You helped to make a difference in her life and we will be eternally grateful for the love shown to her.
