Obituary of Howard Prescott Row

Howard Prescott Row After 82 years of living life well, Howard Prescott Row of Vermilion AB passed away on December 8, 2019. He is survived by his wife of almost 58 years Carol; children Colin Row(Rebecca) of Lacombe, Gail Row (Garth) of Kenora ON, Tina Zayac (Wayne) of Vermilion, Tammy (Helen) Crain of Muskoday SK and Jody MacDonald (Rob) of Blackfoot; grandchildren Joel, Patrick, Nekayla (Zane), Trystyn, Austin, Grayam, Kamryn, Desirae, Autumn and one great grandchild Emberly; siblings John Row and Lucy (Russell) Stewart and a rich assortment of nieces, nephews, cousins whom he all called friends. He is predeceased by his parents May and John Row, sister Verna Kennedy (Bill), sister-in-law Mary and granddaughter Julie. Howard grew up at Beaver Meadows, near Weirdale SK. A sense of adventure and work led him to Cabri/Abbey SK, then Alberta - Morin, Shouldice, Mossleigh, Champion, Grande Prairie, back to SK – Weyburn and finally to Vermilion AB where he and Carol have lived for the past 36 ½ years. He was a proud United Grain Growers grain buyer and district manager for 40 years. He was a golfer, curler, pool player and most importantly a Papa. His vegetable garden and green grass were legendary. His happiest moments were always when he was surrounded by family and friends telling stories and barbecuing some steaks (winter or summer). Howard contributed to every community he lived in. He was involved in Lions, Masons, Legion, Senior Center, Housing Authority, Handi-van, United Church and others. He was the proud recipient of the Rotary Integrity Award. He and Carol were foster parents for many years. He was loved by many. A Funeral Service for Howard will be held at the First United Church, Vermilion on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Andrew Kinoti Lairenge officiating. Interment to follow in the Vermilion Public Cemetery. Donations in memory of Howard may be made tot he Handivan, the Poppy Fund or the Vermilion Valley Lodge.
