Obituary of Olga Lychak
Olga J. Lychak (nee Warawa) passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016 in Vermilion at the age of 90 years. Olga was born on April 27, 1926 in Mannville, Alberta to John and Ustina; the fourth in a family of ten. They moved to a farm in the Fidelity area when she was the age of 4 years old. She attended Fidelity and Indian Lake Schools. She was married to Stephen Lychak in 1943, and they farmed until his passing in 1984. In 1972, she took a hairdressing course at Marvel in Edmonton. She enjoyed her clients and business for 28 years. After living 6 years on the homestead, it was sold in 1990, buying a home in Vermilion with friend Jim Cox. Together, they enjoyed dancing, curling, golfing, cards and socializing. She was a member in the Royal Purple Lodge for 27 years and served on: Secretary/Treasurer in U.C.W.L, Derwent Recreation Centre, Senior Centre, Vermilion Agricultural Fair Board (16 years) and the Derwent Curling Club. She loved knitting, sewing and the art of decorating Ukrainian Easter eggs. Olga is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marie Lychak; granddaughter Jessica Lychak - Dollard; sisters Elizabeth Markowski and Lillian (Walter) Krawchuk; sister in law Kay Warawa; special nephew and niece in law Allen and Debbie Warawa; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was pre-deceased by her husband Stephen Lychak; special friend Jim Cox; son Marshall Lychak; her father, John in 1937 and mother, Ustina in 1983; 3 sisters; and 4 brothers. The Divine Liturgy & Funeral Service will be taking place on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church, Derwent at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Crisis Line & Kid's Help Line, or charity of one's choice.
